RINA HYSENI

Hello! My name is Rina Hyseni, and I am a young artist from New York City. I currently attend the High School of Art and Design, where I major in illustration. My passion for art dates back to my early childhood, and it has followed me ever since. Although I didn't consider it as a possible career choice for myself until my later years of middle school, I am now excited to pursue my passion further in college, with the goal of eventually writing and illustrating my own comic series.

I like to consider myself a very diverse artist, because I work with multiple mediums, subjects, and styles. My shifting views and preferences have driven me into a constant experimental path in my artistic journey. I enjoy both traditional and digital art making, focusing on illustration and graphic design, but I've been also exploring filmmaking and photography. The main motifs that drive most of my work ideas are the stories, experiences and emotions I allow myself to immerse into. I love to intersect my art with my enthusiasm for storytelling, which is why I'm particularly drawn to creating comics, books, and film. I love to present creations that tell a story, and leave a meaningful message. The main messages that I focus on tend to rely around melancholic themes, although my technical style usually involves a more vividly colored exterior.

While I am still in this experimental stage as a growing artist, I always push myself to bring messages through my work, that resonate emotionally with the viewers . I try to utilize art as an expressive tool as much as possible, so most of my art is reflective of my personal background. However, I do have a preference for abstract artwork and ambiguity, so I try to leave space for interpretation in most of my symbolic pieces. That’s what I love so much about art; the way we all see something differently is what makes an artwork so unique and beautiful!
